Bumping

A bump publishes a listing again: Vintly creates a fresh copy and deletes the old one, so the offer returns to the top of the results. It does this for many offers in turn, with delays and photo protection, and the Vintly panel keeps the like history despite the new listing id.

Tab: Listings → Repost
The repost console above the listings table in the Listings tab, mid-run. The numbers match the steps below.

How to bump listings

  1. Select the offers
The Listings tab loads your wardrobe on its own: likes, views, prices. Tick rows, or the box in the table header that selects everything on the list. Narrow it with the Visible filter, the search (title and brand) and sorting by price, likes or views. Hidden offers cannot be selected and sold ones are not on the list.
  2. Pick photo protection
Click Repost in the header. In the console tick at least one protection method; without one, starting is blocked. The choice is not remembered, so tick it again every time you open Listings.
  3. Start and stay in Listings
▶ Repost 10 listings starts the run: a progress bar, a 3/10 counter and ⏹ Stop. At the end a summary appears, e.g. "reposted 9, failed: 1". You can hide the panel with the cross, but do not switch to another extension tab or close the Vinted tab while the run is going.

Shortcut: the ▶ button in an offer’s row bumps just that one straight away, if photo protection is already ticked.

What happens in one bump

  1. Fetching the offerTitle, description, price, category, attributes, photos.
  2. New photosProtection and re-upload.
  3. New listingWith the same data.
  4. Deleting the old oneOnly after the new one exists.
  5. PauseThen the next offer.

The new listing is not a perfect copy of the old one, on purpose:

  • the first photo stays the cover and the order of the rest is shuffled (when there are more than two);
  • Vintly adds the day of the month on a new line at the end of the description, e.g. "07", and swaps it for the new one at the next bump;
  • measurements (length, width) and manufacturer details are not carried over. If you use them, fill them in after the bump;
  • the new offer has a new id and a new address, and the old link stops working.
Do not end a description with a number
If a description ends with two digits, e.g. "size 38", Vintly takes them for its day stamp and replaces them with today’s date: you get "size 07". Add a full stop or a word at the end ("size 38.") and the number stays untouched.
Likes are not lost in the panel
On Vinted the new listing starts from zero. Vintly remembers how many likes the old one had and merges both into one history in the panel: the listing page shows the total likes and every repost as a point on the chart. This works for offers bumped by the end of the run, with the Listings tab open.

Photo protection

Vinted recognises when you upload exactly the same file again. Each method changes the photo just enough for Vinted to treat it as new. The preview below exaggerates the effects a little so you can see them:

OriginalThe photo from your listing.
Slight rotation0.5-2.5° either way. Dark wedges remain in the corners.
Add borderA near-white 1-3 px frame at the edge.
Colour shiftOne colour channel brighter by 1-4 points.

Slight rotationdark backgroundsOn a light background the corners show dark triangles. For photos on white, pick the border or colours.
Add borderlight backgroundsOn a dark photo the thin light outline can show.
Colour shiftany photoLeaves the framing alone. The change in shade is below what the eye notices.

You can tick several methods at once. Every photo is saved as JPEG. If processing fails, Vintly uploads the original; if a photo cannot be downloaded or uploaded, the new listing has one photo fewer.

Pace and delays

15-45 s
random pause until you save settings
±20 %
spread around your delay
5 s
the shortest possible pause
1
offer at a time, never in parallel
  • You set the delay in the extension Settings, in the Reposting card, and confirm with "Save settings". The recommended minimum is 30 s. Until you save anything, Vintly picks a random 15-45 s pause, even if the field shows 30.
  • The pause counts from the end of the previous offer, so photo upload time comes on top.
  • When Vinted will not let a new listing be created, the offer counts as an error, the original stays in place and the run moves to the next one.
Common sense
Bumping the whole wardrobe several times a day does not bring more sales and raises the chance that Vinted takes an interest in the account. A sensible rhythm is once every 1-3 days for offers that stopped getting views. You are responsible for your Vinted account, see section 4 of the Terms.

Stopping and interruptions

What you doWhat happens
"Stop" during a pausethe run ends within a second
"Stop" mid-bumpthe current offer is finished, the rest stays selected for a restart
Hiding the panel (✕ or Esc)no effect, the run continues
Another extension tabthe run continues, but with no summary and no like-history link for the remaining offers
Reloading or closing the Vinted tabthe run breaks mid-offer: the original is untouched, or you have a duplicate to delete

Daily bump at a fixed hour

Settings has a "Daily automatic reposting" switch with an hour field. This feature is not ready yet: there is no way to choose which offers it bumps, so for now it does nothing. Bump manually from the console; when it is done we will describe it here and in the changelog.

Common questions

The bumped listing has a new address. Do old links still work?

No. The old listing is deleted, so its address leads nowhere. If you shared the link outside Vinted, replace it.

Does bumping turn auto-negotiation off?

Yes, for the bumped offer. Negotiation settings are tied to the listing id, and a bump creates a new id. After bumping, switch "Auto" on again in the Offers.

How does the panel know it is the same offer?

After the run the extension sends the panel an "old id → new id" pair. The panel moves the history to the new id and adds the likes from before the bump. More on the Vintly panel.
